"Blue Side of the Mountain"

Blue Side of the Mountain is an exploration of release - the quiet, restorative moment when something familiar is carried away and space is made for something new.  Within the painting exists an invitation to slow down and become immerse in a place - the kind of place that exists somewhere between memory and imagination.   

Layers of blue, sea green, and soft atmospheric light move across the canvas in sweeping, rhythmic forms, creating the feeling of looking out toward a distant mountain landscape just as the light begins to shift.  The rolling forms suggest both mountain and water, intentionally blurring the boundary between land and sea.

The painting is less about a literal landscape and more about the feeling a landscape can hold.  It evokes the pull of somewhere familiar, the memory of a particular view, a song that brings you instantly back to a place, and the quiet feeling of being exactly where you are meant to be.

Blue side of the Mountain is about that feeling of escape — the blue horizon, the changing light, and the emotional landscape we carry with us long after we have let a a place behind.
