“Interlude” and “Riptide” are born from time spent along the Atlantic coastline, where the horizon softens into memory and the rhythm of the tide becomes its own language.
These works reflect the deep, shifting blues of open water, the salt-heavy air of New England shores, and the quiet grounding presence of golden sand meeting sea. There is a stillness here that is not emptiness, but immersion - standing at the edge of the ocean and feeling less like an observer and more like part of its continual movement.
Seen as a diptych, yet offered individually, each painting holds a distinct moment within the same coastal experience: the pull of water outward and inward, the hush between waves, the sense of being gently carried rather than lost.
Inspired primarily by the New England coastline, with echoes of time spent in Virginia Beach, these works invite the viewer into a perspective from within the water itself - not adrift, but fully present in serenity, where the tide’s motion becomes a kind of calm intelligence and the shoreline a distant, grounding line of return.
